Episode #93: Long-time friend of the show CHRIS EVANS (yes THAT Chris Evans, not the other guy) joins the show as we plunge deep into the Sarlacc Pit of Star Wars news and other stuff including a big update on Disney+, Fox, Warner Brothers and DUNE, GL’s not-so-tenuous financial position, as well as the anniversary of the first summer blockbuster JAWS and Ian Shaw’s spot on impersonation of his father, Robert. PLUS you won’t want to miss our discussion on the PINK SHORTS GUY (a member of the 501st???) and the original TESB trailer featuring RMQ’s amazing concept art.

Episode #92: Comic Con 2019 rolled through San Diego like a herd of wild Fathiers and we’ve got all the relevant announcements from Marvel (and a few from Star Wars) in this week’s episode! PLUS we wonder aloud about DAISY RIDLEY’s “mind bending” comment regarding the ending of THE RISE OF SKYWALKER how KEVIN SMITH had the willpower to resist seeing the final set piece for Episode IX. This is our vacation show, with Steve in San Onofre, Niko and Greg under one roof, Dave in his new residence, and Scott flying (Han) solo. Can we pull it off? Could Luke bullseye a womp rat in his T-16 back home?

Episode #91: The details of new STAR WARS movies are famously ensconced by Disney and Lucasfilm’s FORT KNOX-like security precautions but we think we found a genuine (and purposeful?) slip regarding the plot of EPISODE IX: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER and we detail it in this week’s episode. PLUS we ponder why the 74th minute of each of the prequel movies are so important, wish we had attended the star-studded Oscars.com event celebrating A New Hope and Rogue One, and debut our post-show bonus content section – so stick around and listen at the end of the show if you’re into pure speculation about Episode IX, or if you have some time to kill and you’re caught up on STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW.

Episode #90: GALAXY’S EDGE at Disneyland opened to the public and Dave and Steve provide additional details on their visit to the most Star Wars-iest place on earth. PLUS people are stealing and selling SWGE paraphernalia on eBay and this week’s segment of THE NIKO ZONE is sure to scare them straight. Also we run down the rules that govern force ghosts, review a new line of Star Wars furniture, and wonder whether JOHN WILLIAMS has written anything for BARKING SEALS other than the Star Wars main theme.

Episode #86: Star Wars takes a back seat this week as AVENGERS: END GAME and GAME OF THRONES dominate the conversation. The guys go deep with analysis of End Game, including plenty of context to major plot points and links to other films while scrambling up both the obvious and obscure Easter eggs and connecting the seemingly unconnectable with a multitude of tangential thoughts thrown in for good measure. PLUS a compelling (non) Star Wars Choices that split the room like TLJ split the SW fan base. Postscript: Peter Mayhew passed away on April 30th, 2019. The Wretched Hive Podcast family would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the Mayhew Family and to everyone who loved and appreciated Mr. Mayhew. RIP Peter.

The Wretched Hive Podcast
The show was born in the summer of 2015 when Greg, Steve, Niko, Dave, and their wives and girlfriends met at Barley Forge Brewery in Costa Mesa, California (Scott was absent that day, tending to the physical effects of consuming one too many Zombies the evening prior). The usual conversation, debate, and low-brow comedy centering around Star Wars ensued. Steve had the idea of starting a podcast, and much like the throbbing hangover in Scott's cranium, the idea hung on for dear life in his mind, refusing to leave. The five recorded their first episode under the original show title, "The Second Order", on January 20, 2016.
