Episode #55: SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY has our attention and on this week’s show we do a deep dive with our shot-by-shot reaction and analysis of the full trailer. We also hit on GAME OF THRONES’ Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss joining the SW universe, the maker himself George Lucas visiting the Solo set, and NATALIE PORTMAN daring you to say somethin’ about the prequels on SNL.
Mini Ep. #14: The SOLO trailer has dropped and Entertainment Weekly followed with a set of incredible stills from the film. Steve and Scott review the EW stills in preparation for our full review of the trailer in next week’s full show.
Episode #54: Three words describe this episode, and they are not ‘THE LAST JEDI’. Never before have we been more OFF THE RAILS than in this, with talk of STAR WARS devolving into THE BREAKFAST CLUB, Kevin Spacey, FOOTLOOSE, and worst of all for Greg, LOVE ACTUALLY. Turns out the Wookie co-pilot will say anything to stop the rest of us from talking Love Actually, including BEEEEEEEEP. We touch on Rian Johnson’s obsession with holding our collective hands, Joseph Gordon Levitt’s insightful article on TLJ, and highlight Carrie Fisher’s Grammy win. The laughs are strong with this one.
Episode #53: As we engage light speed towards SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY in May, Episode VIII THE LAST JEDI continues to drive conversation and speculation…that is, unless writer/director RIAN JOHNSON continues to hold our collective hand and solve all the riddles for us. This week we cover Rian’s TLJ explanations, review the plot synopsis for Solo, and explore the connection between Star Wars and THE LEGENDS OF THE FALL. Remember that one scene where TRISTAN gets worried about monkeys, gets stoned on the couch, and starts to age backwards?
Episode #52: While THE LAST JEDI kills it at the box office and many fans and critics continue their tirades on the interwebs, THE HIVE is here to be your calm (not), cool (sometimes), and collected (almost never) source for the latest and greatest STAR WARS updates and analysis. This week we get caught up on the box office records set by Ep. VIII and review the most articulate and insane critic and fan reactions. Plus we discuss Disney’s purchase of Fox properties and renew our love for VERY LONELY LUKE.
Episode #51: Fans are divided like never before in the wake of THE LAST JEDI and THE HIVE is as well in this, the final (probably) episode of 2017. We break down fan reaction, share our experiences in watching the film, and cover the best and worst of the eighth film in the Skywalker saga. WARNING: If you have yet to see TLJ, hold off on listening to this episode until after you see the film. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! Warned, you have been.
Mini Ep. #10: The red carpet world premier of Star Wars Episode VIII THE LAST JEDI was held in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium on Saturday, December 9, 2017. We review fan reaction and share our thoughts as we inch closer to seeing the next film in our favorite franchise.
Episode #50: Star Wars Episode VIII THE LAST JEDI hits the theaters this week and we kicked off a week-long celebration by co-hosting trivia night at TIMELESS PINTS Brewery! Thank you to the amazing Star Wars and Wretched Hive fans that came down for what was an epic night at TP. We've got stories and interviews from the event PLUS we break down next week's release of TLJ, talk grey Jedi, and much more.
Best of the Worst Volume 1: It's Thanksgiving in the US and we're delivering a delicious Butterball Turkey straight into your ear holes with Volume 1 of the Best of the Worst of TWHP! We scoured the bottom of the episode 1-5 barrel and scraped up the origins of GLENN FREY angst and of Dave’s nickname, the final takedown of BOBA FETT, and the inaugural Bad Star Wars Battle. We hit on Love Actually, opine on James Cameron’s listenership, revel in the grunts and groans of torqueing a moonfish, and more. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Episode #49: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson was *officially* handed the future of the Star Wars franchise and we’ve got all the angles covered for you in this week’s episode of TWHP. As momentum builds for Episode VIII we review the TLJ trailer that debuted during the Dodgers’ devastating loss in the World Series, break down Kathleen Kennedy’s and Bob Iger’s recent comments on the future of Star Wars, and provide analysis on Adam Driver’s slip (or was it misdirection?) regarding Rey’s lineage. PLUS Dave clarifies things for Steve, who continues to be obsessed with “Rey Kenobi,” and of course Porgs. Much like his cherished Porg, Steve’s dry cleaning bill is enormous.
Episode #48: We are less than 50 days from THE LAST JEDI, Star Wars news is flowing like lava on Mustafar, and THE HIVE will break it all down for you in this week’s episode. Ron Howard reveals the exciting name of his movie (hint: it’s not Han), Porgs are taking over the Star Wars film universe, and JJ shares about new directions for Ep. IX. PLUS we reveal the latest SW holiday gift ideas and run down some delicious recipe ideas for Luke. Spaghetti and Porg Balls anyone?
Episode #47: THE LAST JEDI trailer #2 has caused a tremor in the Star Wars universe and Steve, Greg, Scott, Niko, and Dave are here to break it down for you in this episode of TWHP. Plus as always the guys cover all the relevant SW news including Harrison Ford showing old movies to his kids, why @RealRonHoward is still the Twitter master, and how a DENTIST inserted himself into Episode IV. To quote Greg, this episode is Porgtastic, with lots of porg about porgs, and other porglicious and otherwise interesting news about porgs. Just keep your porgs away from Chewie if you care about them. We’ve heard that he uses them for, umm…things.
Mini Ep. #9: THE LAST JEDI trailer landed yesterday and The Hive met up to celebrate, debate, discuss, and otherwise revel in the wonder that is an amazing trailer.
Episode #46: We are less than eighty days from discovering the identity of The Last Jedi and the guys are here to keep you updated on all the Ep. VIII news you can handle! Plus we review Science and Star Wars, debate the merits of the return of Palpatine (happening in the Lego world for sure), and geek out over next week’s release of Del Rey’s A Certain Point of View. Be prepared for Millennial Falcon madness on this week’s show! You won’t regret listening…from a certain point of view.
Episode #45: JJ Abrams will direct Episode IX, and the guys are here to get you caught up on that and all the relevant news from the Star Wars galaxy! This week we cover why Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy are NOT in trouble (haters gonna hate), the NASA-Lucasfilm partnership, Star Wars products hitting the market (holochess!), Disney’s new streaming service, and whether Han Solo will return in future SW movies (he won’t…probably). PLUS Niko teaches everyone what BTW means. I always thought it meant Monday, as in Before Tuesday and Wednesday. I stand corrected.
Mini Cast #8: #ForceFriday is rocking and The Hive is here to cover it for you in this mini-ep! Scott and Steve crash Timeless Pints Brewing Company and share Steve's big Porg win, Target's awesome Force Friday spread, and Kohl's so-so showing. The beer is flowing and the guys are rambling! Actually...that's pretty typical. Humm.
Episode #44: It's Force Friday II and The Hive is here to help you figure out where to spend your hard-earned republic credits! Plus we've got tons of Star Wars news, facts, and rumors on Episode VIII and IX, Han Solo, and the long rumored and nearly confirmed (but not quite) Kenobi film. We also hit on the Game of Thrones S7 finale, including our most contentious Star Wars Choices yet, draw comparisons between SW and the Marvel Universe, and talk Porgs. Because Porgs are freaking cute, and possibly annoying, but there is one thing they aren’t – going away.
Episode #43: There’s just two weeks until Force Friday and the boys are fired up and ready with all the Star Wars news you can handle including updates from the VR experience at Disney Parks, Princess Leia's academic achievements, Episode VIII (or is it IX?) The Last Jedi, the untitled Han Solo film, and more. Dave unleashes on Niko, Steve has trouble with Greedo, and as always, math is hard.
Episode #42: Will Smith thinks Star Wars is better than sex, and most of The Hive disagree in this episode of TWHP! Plus we’ve got updates on Comic Con, a missed story from D23, TLJ, Ep. IX, and Star Wars in scientific journals! Plus all the regular nonsense you’ve come to expect. And more. Actually, this episode has slightly more ore nonsense than usual – bonus nonsense! We are the Force wielders of nonsense. Hey, there’s a nice ring to that…
Episode #41: Prepare for epic Star Wars geekyness as we are joined by guest host Jackie Michele! Plus we hang on The Couch with filmmaker Anthony Pietromonaco, director of Dark Legacy: A Star Wars story. We’ll get you caught up on news from D23, Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge, Star Wars Episode VIII, the Han Solo film, and more.
Episode #40: The Hive celebrates our 40th Anniversary (same as Star Wars, only different) in style with in-depth analysis of the Ron Howard hiring, Lucasfilm's latest SW effort FORCES OF DESTINY, plus updates on Ep. IX, Apple's use of VR (and Steve's ridiculous Apple obsession), former President Barack Obama's Jedi mind tricks, and all the mind-numbing geek references and innuendos we can pack into roughly an hour and ten minutes. So, actually, it’s a fairly typical show.
Episode #39: Big HAN SOLO news this week as Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are replaced by Ron Howard and we’re here to provide in-depth analysis and plenty of opinions in this episode of TWHP. Plus we share an "exclusive" conversation between George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy, run down an auction of amazing screen-used props from Star Wars and other film franchises, in addition to the relevant news from the past two weeks. Be sure to listen to the bonus content (last 35 minutes or so) for our analysis of the L. Ron Howard hiring, incorrect use of the term milk toast, Foo Fighters vs. Nirvana (yes, we went there) and a whole lot more.
Episode #38: This week we welcome LA rockers The Hellflowers who join us on the couch for an in-depth interview about their love of Star Wars, experiences working at DreamWorks and ILM (including their work on Rogue One!), and their latest EP release, Vacation. We also cover the big Star Wars stories of the week including Bob Iger going fingers up to President Trump, theft at Rancho Obi-Wan, and very special editions of Star Wars Choices and the Very Lonely Luke Tweet of the Week. Hold onto them hats and glasses, ‘cause this here’s the wildest ride in the wilderness…or, galaxy. Whatever.
Mini Cast #7: Last weekend, The Hive blew past Anchorhead and made a pit stop at the Scum and Villainy Cantina in Hollywood! We brought our microphones along as well, and were lucky enough to meet and interview some really cool Star Wars fans. May the spiked blue milk be with you!
Episode #37: Join us this week as we interview Star Wars fan and pin-up model Jackie Michelle! Greg, Scott, Dave, and Steve console themselves over recent celebrity tragedies, celebrate the 40th anniversary of A New Hope through deep analysis of The Last Jedi coverage in this week’s issue of Vanity Fair, and ponder why Greg has so much hatred for The Eagles, including his…uh…nickname for Glenn Frey’s replacement on their upcoming tour. Plus all the ridiculous banter you’ve come to expect from The Hive in this very special episode, number 37. In a row.
Episode #36: This week we discover the location of the real Darth Vader (he's in Tennessee), review Palette-Swap Ninja's incredible Star Wars/Sgt. Pepper's hybrid concept album, and check in on Han Solo film rumors and Mark Hamill's antics. Dave review's Timothy Zahn's latest effort Thrawn, and we touch on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as well as the amazing opening weekend of F8 of the Furious. If that's not enough, we run down the top 23 clues that you may be a Star Wars superfan! Clue #1: you subscribe to this show.
Episode #35: Join in as we revel in the greatness that was Celebration 2017 in Orlando, and get caught up on all the Star Wars news and rumors you can handle. We break down what we learned (and, didn't learn) from Celebration, discuss the ramifications of the Episode IX release date, and review evidence suggesting that McDonald's has indeed tipped their hand to the FACT that they are of the Dark Side (read that again and say "Dark Side" in your best Snoke voice - you know you want to). Plus we have plenty of the ridiculousness you've come to expect from The Hive. Let the ball munching begin!
Star Wars Celebration is in full Force (get it?), and yesterday in particular will be a day long remembered as the first trailer was released for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Listen in as Dave, Scott, and Steve provide scene-by-scene analysis, and speculate on the images, sounds, and what it all means to the future of your favorite franchise.
Episode #34: It's time to celebrate as Star Wars Celebration launches in Orlando! The Hive is here in Orlando to give you the most up to date...actually, hold on...we are not in Orlando. BUT we have digital devices, an internet connection, and opinions to help guide you through the biggest Star Wars event of 2017, that is until Episode VIII hits theaters this December. PLUS we've got news about Ep. VIII and IV, and plenty of other hijinx you've come to expect! Viva Celebracion!
Episode #33: This week we're packed with passion for pumped-up protagonists and preternatural perturbed pumpkin-eating pythons! Actually that makes no sense at all. But what we do have is a galaxy full of Star Wars news including info about the Han Solo stand alone film, Star Wars Rebels...and fire up that Keurig…we've got quotes from Walt Disney Chairman Bob Iger! Needless to say, we're really excited about that. Really. We're excited. Woo-hoo. So excited.

PLUS we pose the question: What do you get a Wookie for Christmas, when he already has a comb?
Episode #30: This week's show is packed with news and views including Bob Iger's recent remarks at the Disney shareholders meeting, the forthcoming Han Solo film, and Ep. VIII. Plus a very special bonus mid-show...we ditch Skype and leap forward into 2017 audio technology! Come on baby, hold together.
Episode #29: This week we've got a mix of stories from the Star Wars universe including the latest updates on Episode VIII, the Han Solo film, and more. Park your T-16 and hang with us for a while. What did those poor womp rats ever do to you?

It's our one-year anniversary and we're celebrating with our review of Star Wars Burlesque, plus news and updates from Rogue One, Episode VIII, and the Han Solo stand-alone film. Episode #27: ROGUE ONE PART 2! Here's the second of two shows devoted to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, although we reserve the right to provide more analysis as ROASWS sinks in! The Wretched Hive would like to dedicate this episode to the loved ones of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

Note: the possibility of you enjoying this episode is approximately 3,720 to 1. But never tell us the odds.
Mini cast #1: We couldn't let a week pass without talking about Force Friday! Scott and Steve compare the madness that was Midnight Madness from the prequel era to the lazy Friday night that was this year's Force Friday. It's like our regular show, only about 1/8 the size and 20% of the brain power.
